Beyond the Game With Stella Week 6

13/08/2026

This Week's Question:

Does what children eat before and after football really matter?

Yes! Food gives children the energy they need to run, learn, recover and have fun during training.

The Science

Research shows that children perform best when they eat balanced meals and snacks that provide carbohydrates for energy and protein to support growth and recovery. Eating before activity helps maintain energy levels, while a nutritious snack afterward helps the body recover.

Healthy eating isn't about being perfect, it's about giving growing bodies the fuel they need!

What This Looks Like in Real Life

A banana before training, cheese and crackers after practice or yogurt with fruit are simple options that can help children stay energized and recover well.

Coach's Corner

This week let your child help choose a healthy snack before training. Involving children in making healthy choices helps build lifelong habits.

The XV Academy Difference

At XV Academy, we encourage healthy habits that support children's performance, confidence and enjoyment of football. Small choices away from the pitch can make a big difference during every session.
