Beyond the Game with Stella Week 3

This Week's Question:
How does football help children become more confident?
Confidence doesn't happen overnight. It grows through small achievements, learning from mistakes, and continuing to try.
The Science
Research suggests that confidence grows when children experience learning a new skill through practice and seeing their own progress over time. Team sports provide regular opportunities for children to set goals, overcome challenges and celebrate improvement.
Studies have also shown that supportive coaches and positive team environments help children develop higher self esteem and resilience. Every new skill learned, every challenge overcome and every encouraging teammate helps build confidence that extends beyond football.
What This Looks Like in Real Life
Maybe your child finally completes a skill they've been practicing for weeks. Maybe they volunteer to answer a coach's question or encourage a teammate after a tough moment. These small successes help children believe in themselves.
Coach's Corner
This week, ask your child:
"What are you most proud of from training today?"
Focusing on effort and improvement helps children build confidence from within rather than relying only on results.
The XV Academy Difference
At XV Academy, every child is encouraged to try, learn, and improve in a supportive environment. We believe confidence starts with small wins that add up over time.
